Why crop a video's frame?

Vertical videos with black bars, a passerby at the edge of the shot, a tilted horizon, a watermark sitting in a corner — the frame is often the problem, not the length. Cropping the frame fixes all of these: cut the distraction out, straighten the angle, flip a selfie that came out mirrored.

How to crop a video (3 steps)

  1. Select your video. Any common format works: MP4, MOV, WebM, AVI, MKV.
  2. Set the canvas first. Pick a ratio (or a custom one) and the output pixels — this is your frame. Then move the video on the canvas: drag it anywhere (parts outside the frame simply don't export), scale it with the slider or a corner handle, rotate it if the shot is tilted, mirror it if it faces the wrong way. Switch to Crop mode to choose exactly which part of the source to use.
  3. Export. The download is exactly the canvas — no surprises.

Crop and trim in one export

Cropping cuts space off the edges of the picture; trimming cuts time off the start or end. This page does both at once: frame the shot on the canvas, keep only the part of the clip you want with the timeline handles, and export once. If you only need to shorten a clip and want zero quality loss, use Video Cutter — it trims without re-encoding.

Datenschutz durch Design: kein Upload

This tool runs FFmpeg compiled to WebAssembly entirely inside your browser tab. Your video never travels over the network, and the audio track is copied through untouched.

Häufige Fragen

Is this video cropper really free?

Yes — unlimited crops, no account, no watermark. Everything runs on your device.

Can I cut length off my video here?

Yes — drag the blue handles on the timeline to keep only part of the clip, then export. Note that cropping re-encodes the video, so for a purely lossless trim with no quality loss at all, use Video Cutter.

Can I see the mirror and rotation before exporting?

Yes — both are drawn live on the canvas. What you see inside the blue box is exactly what the export contains, including any black border where the box goes beyond the video.

Can the video go outside the canvas?

Yes — drag it anywhere you like. Parts outside the frame simply don't appear in the export. If you lose it, Reset layer brings it back to the center.

Will rotating hurt quality?

Rotation re-encodes the video, so it is not lossless like trimming. At the default quality the loss is invisible for most footage; rotating a few degrees to straighten a shot is exactly what this is for.

What happens to the black corners after rotating?

Rotation leaves black triangles at the corners. Drag the crop box inward until they are gone — that is the usual straighten-and-crop workflow.

Werden meine Dateien irgendwo hochgeladen?

No. Cropping happens locally via FFmpeg in WebAssembly inside your browser.
